She is dedicated to achieve and stop at nothing. She works at the Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill, Nebraska. Her four kids are all girls- Gabbie, Chloe, Mallorie, and Bristol. Have you guessed her yet? Well, its my mom, Nicole Scott.
Nicole grew up in Niobrara, Nebraska. She spent the first 9 years of her life living at the Niobrara State Park, because her dad was the manager. She has one sister- Michela Keeler. (My mom’s maiden name) After those years, they moved to town into a house right next to the big water tower. But, she hadn't completely left Niobrara State Park, because when she was a teen, she went back to the park to work as a lifeguard. She was very good at this because she had been along the river and water her entire life. She would go boating, tubing, and skiing along the Niobrara and Missouri Rivers.
One of the struggles she had to face was getting a college diploma for a good job. She went to a nursing school in South Dakota. “Nursing school was very challenging. I would stay up late every night preparing for the next day. It was basically just studying after studying. “ she said. Well, all that hard work paid off. Eventually, she married her husband, Jon Scott. But even this was a struggle. Jon decided, on their wedding day, to go for a motorcycle ride. This did not turn out well, as he crashed on a gravel road. TLC sent a TV broadcaster to interview them and shoot some scenes to put on their show, “Wild Wedding Disasters”. They didn’t get married until late at night, but the night still turned out perfect. One other struggle she faced was her dad died of cancer. He was a very special person and it was very sad to see him go so quickly. He died on April 3, 2010.
Nicole gives good advice. Her advice to young people today was,” To study hard, get good grades, go to college to get job.” Some advice her dad gave her was to, “live her life as if it were her last day. Work hard, but be happy at the same time.” Advice she had given me was to “ Chase my dreams, nothing is impossible. And to have fun as a child, you will never get these years back.”
My mom inspires me because of many reasons. She is able to pick herself back up after hard times, she works hard, fights for what she believes in, and can still be the wonderful person she is.
