Concrete Poem

Basketball

Dribble down the court and pass the ball.
Score the layup or shoot the 3 pointer.
When you score, play good defense,
For if you don't,
they will score on you.
Run the play and have good TEAMWORK.
Have fun and play the game.
Be physical.
Practice hard.
Basketball is my game.

Persona Poem

Persona Poem

There's not a day I'm not out, playing the game.
Everyone smacks me with their bats,
but I fly and soar in the air.
If you don't catch me, watch out,
I might smack you instead.
I look tough with my stitches,
and I swim in the dirt, and get thrown into a glove.
Softball is my game.

Nebraska Poem

Nebraska Nature

The sunset of all colors fill the sky,
Leaves slowly start to fall,
Tall grasses whir back and forth.
The sun beams,
then it slowly starts to fall,
and the colors return.
Blackness covers the sky.
Dots appear, like diamonds.
The nighttime sounds fill the air.
There is no place like Nebraska.

The winter breeze blows,
As the white snowflakes shimmer,
on this bright morning.

Metaphor Poem

Life is a rollercoaster.
Full of excitement and thrill.
You have ups and downs,
Swirls and just going straight.
But this time, you run the ride.

Found Poem

It's no big deal,
but one day you will be someone big.
In life you have to connect the dots
Find value
Capture fasinating events
Trust in something
Don't settle
And find what you love.
There is no reason not to follow your heart.

Season Poem

I walk outside in the muggy and windy weather.
The alarm booms and blares.
The wind picks up, but I'm stuck.
Lightning flashes and strikes the ground.
Thunder booms and shakes.
The whirling creature keeps coming closer,
but I cannot move.
Closer,
Closer,
and Closer.
but it's too late.

Name Poem

Chloe
It means smart, athletic, smiling,
Its the number 1,
Its like a bright sky in a summer morning,
Its going to the cabin on beautiful weekends,
Its the memory of my parents,
Who taught me to be strong and to laugh,
When we both had hard times.
My name is Chloe
It means that anything is possible,
when you put your mind to it.

Acrylic Poem

Being Agressive
Assisting the ball
Shooting the ball
Keeping control
Everybody moving
Teamwork is everything
Being sportsmanship-like
Always watching
Losing can make you learn from mistakes
Lacking effort is unreasonable

Blindsight Poster

Motivation

Motivation is a big part in the movie “Blindsight” because, of the dedication of everyone. At the beginning, Erik climbed to the top of Mount Everest, even though he was blind. This got the attention of many. Erik had heard of this blind school and said he wanted to take some students there to a peak on Mount Everest. When they went to the peak they were all excited. Halfway through, many people started to get tired and get headaches. Even though these things may have stopped them, they kept going. An example in my life is when I’m on a sports team and are down by a lot. To me the score means nothing. The only thing that matters is that I walk out of that gym knowing that I tried my hardest and never gave up.

American Freedom

American Freedom
Do you ever ponder where you get your freedom from? Many soldiers gave up their lives just for you, so you can live in a land of freedom. In freedom, there is sacrifice, when family members go to the forces, and then comes celebration, when all wars and fighting is over.
Sacrifice is an important role in freedom. In World War 1, about 37 million people died. In World War 2, over 60 million died. Think about that. All of those people died just for you. For your freedom. And that is just from two wars, when we have had many more. Every time you see a veteran, always say, “ Thank you for your service,” it means a lot.
Sometimes your family goes to war too. It is very hard to see them leave like that. I’ve never had my family member go to war and not come back, but I know It would be hard. I had four family members in the forces. My Uncle John was in the Army, and in a couple of recent wars in the Middle East. My Aunt Julie was in in the National Guard. My Grandpa Scott was in the Army, and my other Grandpa was in the Army, too.
After all the wars and fighting are over, there comes a celebration. One of the most famous celebrations we celebrate every year is the 4th of July. On that day we celebrate the independence we fought for and won. We light off fireworks and watch them burst into the sky. This day is set aside for all  Americans to celebrate our independence and remember what it cost our country to achieve it.
In freedom, there is sacrifice, family members joining the forces, and then comes celebration, when all the wars and fighting come to an end. What these people do for our country is amazing. So, the next time you see a veteran, thank them, it means a lot.

Adverb Poem

A pumpkin
A pumpkin glows brightly
A pumpkin glows brightly, flickeringly
glows brightly, flickeringly, hauntingly, spookically
When the ghosts and creatures creep by.

Ghost at OHS

Ghost at OHS

Have you ever heard the legend at OHS? Her name is Gracie Ghost, and she’s been haunting the spooky school hallways since her and her classmates were in school. She wears a long coat, and ripped up jeans. Her hair is black, long, and wavy. She also has a long, pointed nose, and green sparkling eyes.
Whenever you visit OHS, do you ever notice something of yours missing? Gracie is very mischievous and loves to steal. When class starts, she rushes through lockers and steals homework, pencils, and everything you put in her sight. When, she hears a student complaining that he had lost something, she laughs a very high pitched, and loud laugh, almost like a wicked witch. You can hear the mysterious laugh from the front of the building all the way to the back. When she gets caught, she vanishes and is not heard from for the rest of  the day.
Gracie also follows some kids into class once in a while. When the teacher has her back turned to the students, she likes to write funny jokes on the board. When the students laugh and the teacher turns around, she erases it real fast with her magical ghost powers. The teachers have never discovered and maybe never will, what has made those kids to laugh so much.
Nobody has ever seen Gracie, but many hope they will. While she can be mischievous, she is also funny and a nice ghost. Gracie continues to haunt the school still today, so keep a sharp eye out for missing pencils, homework, and especially the loud and wicked laugh.

Hogwarts Halloween Feast

Hogwarts Halloween Feast

As I walked into the Great Hall, their was everything you could’ve imagined about Halloween. There was floating pumpkins all around the room. Thunder boomed and lightning flashed from the magic ceiling that looked like the midnight sky. Bats were screeching all around. There were even some ghosts flying around, scaring us once in a while. Also, everyone was wearing a  frightening costume.
The food was delicious. The plates magically appeared when Professor Dumbledore was done doing his speech. There was  everything from mashed potatoes, roast beef, seafood, Italian, Mexican, and so many more! Then, came our desert. There was sweet and sour candies, all of the mouth-watering pies you can think of, a chocolate fountain, ice cream, and cupcakes of all different flavors. We also had my favorite drink of all time, butter beer.
After we were done eating all of the wonderful foods, Ron Wesley, my best friend, and I did broom racing. The broomsticks went super fast, almost as fast as an airplane. Ron can try all he wants, but will never beat me.

The feast was now ending. Dumbledore did his final speech, and we were off. Today was  so exciting. Now it is time to wait for the next Halloween.

Nursery Rhyme

"Baa, baa, black sheep..."
Baa, baa, black sheep,
   Have you any fur?
Yes, man, yes man,
   Three sacks full;
One for my leader,
   One for my matron,
And one for the tiny boy   That lives in our ally.

Dot Day

In " The dot" I learned that you don't have to be amazing at something to be good at it. There will be other people that are better at something than you are, but that doesn't mean you can't do it. In the story, she turned a simple dot into something really cool. You can do anything if you put your mind to it, and never give up.

An Unforgettable School Day

An Unforgettable School Day

“The bus is here, everybody! Let’s go!” shouted Mr. Walters, my sixth grade teacher. We hurriedly walked to the bus. Makayla and I would sit by each other, we’re best friends. The sixth grade usually goes to the Omaha Zoo but, since Mr. Dwizgo was retiring this year, we were going to his choice. Makayla and I were pretty upset because we really wanted to go to the zoo. This year we were going to the Hastings Museum. I had never been there before, but it didn't really seem fun to me.
When we first got there, we were supposed to go to our group leaders. My group had almost all my friends in it, so that made me a little more excited about this trip. Our group leader was Jeanne Breiner. We took a quick class picture and then headed inside. It was full of all of many unique colors and so many different things. But this was only the start of the trip. First thing my group did, was go into a star area. There, we watched what the sky would look like tonight. We pointed out the constellations too. It was so beautiful and getting better by the second. Next, we went to the 3-D movie theater, where I learned about junk floating around in outer space.
Next, it was time for lunch. When we were at the table trash was blowing like crazy. Mine trash drifted away.  Mr. Walters told us to pick up trash or stay in the bus for the rest of the trip. I got up quickly so I wouldn’t have to. Jeanne got a little tired of us calling her “Mrs. Briener.” She hates that. She would chase you all over the place until you promised to never say that again. Then, Jeanne told us that it was time to go back into the museum.
We toured the rest of the museum. We looked at exciting animals and a lady told us about Nebraska history. This was getting very interesting. Now was the coolest part of all; the Kool-Aid part of the museum. We got to see how Kool-Aid started. We even got to see old commercials for Kool-Aid. Mr. Walter’s caught us running around so we were yelled at a little and we stopped. “It’s time to go everyone! Get on the bus!” Mr. Walters said one last time.
We all gathered into the bus. I couldn't believe I thought that this trip wasn’t going to be fun. It was extremely fun! I learned so much about Nebraska and tons of science. Also, I learned to never call Jeanne, Mrs. Breiner, never run in a museum, and most of all, never doubt anything before you even know what’s going to happen.

Bedroom Writing

Bedroom Writing

Here is my room, my closet full of clothes, some even out on the floor. There is a small window, not a breathtaking view, but of the side of my neighbor’s house. The white ceiling fan whirls around to keep the room cool. I have gemstone hooks to hold up my hundreds of bags and sweatshirts. I have a large desk with an uncomfortable roller chair to do homework. On the top of my desk, I have many prized possessions; Books, jewelry, pencils, pens, and a picture of my Grandpa Mike. My Grandpa died a couple of years ago of cancer. The small picture reminds me of the special memories we had together.
In my room, I also have worn out white carpet and turquoise walls. On the walls are pictures and posters. I have a white dresser with four squeaky drawers. On top of the dresser, I have my MLB baseball I caught at a Twins game. My medals I won in sporting events are on there too. In the corner, I have a big hot pink crate, to hold all of my shoes. Also in the corner, I have a comfortable purple chair with a zebra pillow. My bedspread is very similar; zebra with hot pink. My colorful basket of a variety of headbands is sitting on my floor. And of course I need another basket in the bathroom, just because I have so many! My room is full of so many wonderful treasures.

I am rich beyond measure.
